Jesus tells us in Luke Chapter 12
4 “Dear friends, don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot do any more to you after that. 5 But I’ll tell you whom to fear. Fear God, who has the power to kill you and then throw you into hell. [fn1] Yes, he’s the one to fear.
6 “What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins [fn2] ? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. 7 And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
8 “I tell you the truth, everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, the Son of Man [fn3] will also acknowledge in the presence of God’s angels. 9 But anyone who denies me here on earth will be denied before God’s angels. 10 Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
11 “And when you are brought to trial in the synagogues and before rulers and authorities, don’t worry about how to defend yourself or what to say, 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what needs to be said.”
Jesus make it clear that we are to Fear God. Proverbs 14:26 says "Those who fear the LORD are secure; he will be a refuge for their children." This is a Reverence of God, respecting His Position as our Creator, and our ultimate Judge. Our earthly fathers for the most part love us and want the best or us, but while we were living under their care we had to follow there directions. If we didn't children could usually expect a spanking or some form of punishment, which brings about a fear or reverence of them. We should have a Reverence of Our God for taking on the punishment that we deserved, and the Grace and Mercy that he showed us because of His Great Love.
So do we fear God by the way we live our lives?
Jesus also make it clear that we are not to worry about what others can do to us or about even fear about how we will take care of our self's'. This is a lesson that God is teaching me. If we are fearful of how we are going to provide for are families or keeping them safe, it shows are disbelief in God and His Word, Because he is clearly telling us not to worry like that in this passage. It goes on to say in verse 8 that if we publicly acknowledge Jesus we will be acknowledge by Gods Angels, and this is powerful thing if you read in the Bible what Gods Angels are capable of ! So we don't want to deny God or His Word which states His Great Love for us! God reminds me that He is concerned for me Eternally, not just physically and materially!
